What is home watch? By definition, home watch is a visual inspection of a home or property, looking for any obvious issues.
What is completed and checked on during a home watch inspection?
Below is a general list of items checked during a home watch inspection. Not all homes are the same, so this list is a good place to start.
All home inspections can be customized to your specific needs.
Inspections can be completed as often as you like. Most people opt for every two weeks.

General Home Inspection Checklist
Exterior - Complete home exterior walk around:
- Check doors, windows and screens for signs of damage or break-in
- Check exterior of home for damage - trees, wind, etc
- Visual inspection (from ground) of roof, gutters and siding
- Check property for any issues - trees down, trash, etc
- Blow leaves/debris off decks, walkways and driveway
- Check propane tank level
- Check dryer vent
- Check mailbox and front door. Bring mail and deliveries inside or forward
Interior - Complete home walk through:
- Check for signs of insects, pests and rodents
- Check ceilings, walls & floors for water damage
- Visual inspection (from ground) of roof, gutters and siding
- Check breaker box for tripped fuses
- Check for water leaks - hot water heater, toilets, sinks, washing machine, showers/tubs, dishwasher, well pump, HVAC drain line
- Flush toilets & cycle all faucets
- Check timed lighting for proper function
- Reset clocks
- Check refrigerator, freezer for proper operation
- Inspect HVAC & water filters
- Check thermostats for proper setting & operation
- Summer - check attic fan operation
- Other inspections, as requested.
Customers are called with any immediate concerns while on-site.
Inspection reports are emailed after every visit. Any issues found are noted, with pictures.
